None of us are assuming that our slipstream experiment is going to be problem-free. The basic theory is sound, although there *are* a number of areas where something may go wrong once we engage the actual drive. However, I am confident we will be able to compensate for any difficulties that arise. At the risk of sounding like seven_of_nine, we will adapt. That's what Humans do best, after all.

Besides, it was more or less true. You need to be free to make your own mistakes. Which is why I don't stop you when you blow up your ship. Which has actually happened I think three, maybe four times now but you always manage to find a way to mess with time or alternate universes to save yourselves despite it all.

I'd be very unhappy if you managed to blow yourselves up and *not* recover through creative use of temporal anomalies, alternate timelines or weird plasma duplicates of yourselves. Among other things I never got you to babysit. :-)

(I think your count is a bit high, but as you mention 'alternate universes' or timelines, I won't quibble). At any rate, I don't think the risk here is as great as you may be implying (although it has come to my attention that it *may* be something we should investigate).
