2009.17.3.B. Seek salvation, make your confession, reach out for spiritual guidance. In short, have a religious moment.

OOC: snippet from unfinished story based on and extending episode "Deja Q". Q was rescued from the Calamarain at the end of the episode, the TNG crew developed a means they could use to try to negotiate with the Calamarain... and it didn't work, and Q had to talk to the Calamarain and agree to sacrifice himself to them in three days. The night before his scheduled surrender, he goes to one of the ship's non-denominational chapels to talk to the Continuum, the way that mortals speak to their gods. The similarity has not escaped him.

The thing I really don't understand about sleep is why it doesn't terrify you mortals.

You talk about sleep as if it's relaxing. Fun! Sweet sleep. Gentle sleep. Delicious sleep. Has it occurred to any of you that from your own perspective, the only way you can tell the difference between being asleep and being dead is that you wake up from being asleep? (Okay, obviously it *has* occurred to some of you, for instance William Shakespeare. But most of you seem to treat it as a fun adventure to another country, rather than what it is, which is THE TOTAL CESSATION OF YOUR CONSCIOUSNESS.)

My one experience with the horror of sleep. )

'What doesn't kill us makes us stronger.' Do you agree or disagree? Why?

Depends. )

Have you ever woken up in the morning and not remembered what you did the night before?

What is this obsession you people have with sleep? )

I'm not usually the kind of person to wax eloquent on the values of forgiveness and kindness. Mark your calendars, this may be a red-letter day.

Forgiveness and kindness? If there was any more sap in this I could make maple syrup and pour it on my pancakes. )

If you could do one totally irresponsible or even bad thing with absolutely no consequences, what would it be and why?

Just *one*? My whole *life* used to be like that.

Which leads me into my next topic.

What is the scariest thing that has ever happened to you?

They say that what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, right? But then, they never probably had to deal with losing friends and family, becoming crippled and blind, and facing death, all in the same day. I mean, if they *had*, and they still think it makes you stronger... well, they're idiots. Wiser, maybe. More cautious? Definitely. But stronger? No, I can pretty much declare that I was *stronger* before it happened.

I am, of course, talking about the single day I was human.

Why being human is the SCARIEST THING EVER )

This entry refers to the events of Star Trek:The Next Generation episode "Deja Q".
